About Us
Hello! I’m Kelsey (Kel), the creator, maker, and owner of Koda & Kel. For nearly 5 years, I worked in pet retail and adored interacting with pets and pet owners alike. Unfortunately, I was one of many that lost my job due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the pet store I knew and loved was forced to close their doors suddenly and permanently. While I was stuck at home during quarantine with no job and only my dog to keep me company, I began brainstorming. Fortunately, I learned to sew making masks during the beginning of the pandemic and that’s when the idea came to me...
I have always had a passion for animals, fashion, and all things handcrafted so naturally I gravitated towards the idea of combining all three. Luckily, in my time working in pet retail I noticed something was missing: cute trendy sets that allowed pet owners to coordinate all their accessories and match their pets. So I set out on a mission to create a shop that would bring stylish coordinated handmade fashion accessories to both pet parents and their beloved pets.
Meet Koda
This is THE KODA of Koda & Kel. He is the inspiration for our logo and the motivation for me to make great products as a dog mom. Koda is my 5 year old adopted husky-samoyed mix. He was surrendered to a rescue at 5 weeks old along with his 6 litter mates. I met them all at 10 weeks old and instantly knew he was the one for me. I brought him home a week later and the rest is history. Now he is not only the namesake of the company but also our delivery assistant, product tester, model, and customer service rep. As CDO (Chief Dog Officer) of Koda & Kel, he takes these responsibilities very seriously and helps ensure quality products and service for all pets & people.
What We Stand For
Here at Koda & Kel, we want each item to feel like it was made just for you and your pet, so everything from our online shop is one of a kind and made to order. All our products are handmade, packaged, and shipped in Michigan by us. It is currently a family operation with me, Kelsey, as the designer & maker with the help of my parents & siblings. We aim for stylish sustainability so the fabric used in our products is 100% woven cotton so it’s natural fiber and breathable. We make it a point to ensure our packaging is eco-friendly and either recyclable or compostable (see instructions from your local recycling center for more info). About Our Products
All products are made with 100% cotton fabric which provides softness, durability, and sustainability.
Pet Bandanas - All bandanas are reversible so you get 2 stylish designs in 1 and you can mix & match with other accessories. Slip On Bandanas are designed to slip onto/over your pet’s collar, so no worries about tying anything around their neck or getting an exact measurement. Tie On Bandanas feature long tapered ties with an option to keep as a classic tie on or add snaps - (Tie & Snap - a duo closure designed to tie/wrap and then snap to secure). We offer a range of sizes (XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL)* that will fit any dog from Chihuahua to Great Dane, even cats, horses, and rabbits. Size Charts are located in the product images. Slip On Bandanas should fit at least 1/2 to 3/4 around your pet’s neck. Tie & Snap Bandanas should fit loosely around your pet’s neck with 1-2 inches of spare room. We recommend measuring for a more accuracy. Pet Bow Ties & Sailor Bows - All bow ties and bows are slip on with 2 elastic loops (velcro upon request) and available in 5 sizes - XS, S, M, L, XL. They come in coordinating fabric of all our bandanas. Bow Ties are double layer design featuring two fabrics. Sailor Bows feature the main fabric with long tails and coordinating fabric center. The elastic attachment style is recommended as it will ensure the bow will stay on until you take it off. Velcro option is available upon request.
Scrunchies - Scrunchies are available in 2 styles, classic & bow, in matching fabric of all our reversible bandanas and bow ties. All scrunchies are one size fits most with 8 inch x 3/8 inch elastic. Mini and XXL sizes are available upon request for extra fine or thick hair. Classic scrunchies offer the traditional scrunchie style while Bow Scrunchies add a cute unique touch with bow ends or “bunny ears”.
Hair Bows (Upon Request) - All of our bow ties and sailor bows can be converted to hair bows with a barrette clip that slides onto the elastic loops. This makes them multifunctional and also has the option to slide onto a stiff headband. To order a hair bow, select the bow tie or sailor bow in the size you prefer and add “hair clip/barrette” to the special requests box or notes to seller.
Velvet Pet Collars - Our velvet pet collars are the ultimate accessory that is both durable and luxurious. Features a stretch velvet wrapped polypropelene webbing-core with luxe metal hardware and finished with topstitching and bar-tacking to secure. They come in over 32 different colors to mix and match with other accessories. The stretch velvet ensures the collars are scratch and stain resistant. Easy to clean with a damp cloth.
Headbands (Upon Request) - Headbands are adult one size fits most and fit head circumference of 21-25 inches. They come in 3 different styles: turban twist, bow knot, and classic. They are available in matching fabric of all our bandanas and bows.
